Who This Emergency First Aid Course Is For
The Emergency First Aid course is also commonly known as the Appointed Persons First Aid Course.
We aim to make this short course in basic First Aid fun and a complete introduction to the subject.
It is a one day HSE (Health and Safety Executive) recognised First Aid course. It is designed to give an employer coverage for First Aid in his workplace where a risk assessment has determined that trained personnel are required in low or medium risk workplaces, or needed to support First Aiders in higher risk areas. If you’re not sure what first aid coverage you need, or you are interested as an individual, call us for a friendly chat to find out more.
On our Emergency First Aid course we use general workplace First Aid, however courses can be tailored to your specific needs and will still be recognised under the syllabus requirements of the First Aid regulations.
We know that the First Aid situations encountered in a nursery school will be very different to those of an office, construction site, factory or saw mill for example and due to the wide experience we have we are very happy to build in First Aid training situations and accidents relevant to your workplace. There is no additional cost for this ‘bespoke’ service.
The Emergency First Aid Course Contents
The Emergency First Aid course allows six hours contact time with lots of time for practical hands-on training and questions. It provides the delegate with a recognised Certificate that is valid for three years from the date of completing the training.
A current professionally produced Emergency First Aid Guide will also be given to each delegate to take away. It’s very user friendly and can be used to keep skills fresh in the delegate’s mind long after the first aid training has finished!
Our first aid instructor, Indy Gill, will cover on the general Emergency First Aid Course the following:
- Priorities of First Aid
- First Aid equipment
- Duties of a First Aider/Appointed Person
- Record keeping
- Actions in emergencies
- Basic Life Support (formerly known as CPR - Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
- Advanced trauma management
- The Unconscious Casualty

- Treatment for wounds and bleeding
- Fractures
- Treatment for burns and scalds
- Treatment for shock
- Dressings and bandages
- Treatment of Heart Attack casualties
- A variety of real life examples and pictures to illustrate some of the key first aid principles above.
First Aid courses are usually delivered on your premises using our own training aids. Audio visual equipment and first aid mannequins. Many employers asked us for this service and we feel it adds convenience to them and saves on them having to pay additional travel and subsistence expenses for their employees. It also means we can be extremely flexible over training dates and can deliver your First Aid training over any day of the week to suit your business needs.
We do have access to training rooms where we can run a course for you too; one in Northampton and the other near Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire.
For further information and details of our extremely competitive pricing, (many people say we are charging too little for the quality of service we are providing ), do call Indy or Sue on 01604 771369 or email us at info@accidentandrisk.co.uk with an indication of the nature of your business, how many people you would like trained and which dates would suit you best. |
